Biogas
Biodigester Installation Lundazi
Project information
LLundazi is a town in eastern Zambia, close to the Malawian border, about 116 miles (187 kilometers) from Chipata. At one of our field days, Mr Banda Timothy was introduced to Biogas by our sales agent. He narrated to us how his wife dreaded gathering firewood, which took her more than 30 hours per week. We recommended a 6 cubic meter biodigester that included free installation as well as a free two-burner stove and one large burner.
- Mrs Banda says cooking is now easy, and enjoyable
- The pots and pans are easy to clean.
- Mrs Banda No longer spend 30hours a week collecting firewood
- mrs Banda now has extra time to rest
- Mrs Banda has better health beacuse there is less smoke in the kitchen
Several residents of all ages contributed their time and energy to the installation. There was a lot of excitement because not everyone believed cow dung could be used to generate fire for cooking. Our team returned to Mr Banda’s farm 30 days later for the first demonstration of working biogas. Using the stove, loading the digester with cow dung, and maintaining the system were explained to Mrs. Banda by us. It was Mrs. Banda’s greatest joy that she would be able to cook with ease now.
